These are uncommonly accomplished attempts to envision the unimaginable! I recall seeing the seventh one down in the book of Cosmos--Sagan used it as an example of how unequal we were to the task of conceiving of alien life, but I think that may have been a touch uncharitable...
I used to have a book full of Sci Fi Pulp art when I was a kid that had several of these illustrations in it ... GOOD STUFF!
